Titles that are filled with keywords can sometimes click run on sentences that can be confusing to shoppers. It is important to optimize your titles for easy legibility. The key here is scanability. You want your titles to be read quickly and efficiently utilize commas, dashes, or vertical bars to break up key information.

Let’s take a look at some examples of titles to see how different types of titles affect eligibility. First, we have an example search for an electric drill. There is no use of dashes or commas, and so all the words just blend together. This makes the title difficult to scan and pull out key pieces of information.

Next, we have an example for a tonic water. This title utilizes commas to separate key pieces of information, such as zero calories and zero sugar. This is already a big improvement from the previous example we looked at. Lastly, we have an example by Velcro. They use vertical bars along with spaces to separate product features.

This one is the most easily readable because the product features of clear separation markers, which are great for scanning the shopper’s eye doesn’t have to search for their break points in key points of information because the title has structure.
